Be careful what you pray for

Prayer = communication to God.

We all pray in different ways and at different times. Prayer can be done through words, thoughts, song and tongues. We sometimes pray in silence, quietly and meekly, and at other times we pray loud, fervently and passionately.

These are some scriptures on prayer:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 – ‘ be unceasing and persistent in prayer.’ AMP ( Amplified Bible)

Mark 11: 24 – ‘ For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.’ (AMP)

Matthew 6:6 – ‘ But when you pray, go into your most private room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you. ‘ AMP

I remember I prayed for God to deliver me from a boyfriend who was not a good influence in my life. I found it hard to cut the relationship off as this particular individual was not letting our connection go. He would always find a way back in.

One day, I cried out to God to intervene and within a few months, the connection was cut off. He got into a relationship with a girl who was one of my best friends at the time. After he and I were no longer in communication, the funny thing is I forgot I had even prayed that prayer as I initially missed the presence of that person in my life. Thinking about it now, God must of been looking at me like ‘is this girl serious right now?’.

What are you praying about? who are you praying for? I advise that you take your prayer life very seriously as God is listening. Have a prayer journal if you want to document your prayers and keep a note of what God has done and how your life is evolving around your prayers.
